Travel Advisory Issued for New Year Eve Celebrations

Dubai, UAE- Ahead of New Year’s Eve on December 31 in Dubai, authorities — including the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and the Dubai Event Security Committee — are advising residents and visitors to opt for public transport and plan their travel in advance, as heavy traffic, phased road closures and large crowds are expected across key celebration areas.

Major roads around Downtown Dubai and key celebration spots will be closed in phases from the afternoon of December 31, making driving difficult.

To ease congestion and ensure smooth movement, authorities have recommended using public transport instead of private cars.

The city expects very high visitor numbers, so planning ahead and arriving early via public transport helps avoid gridlock and delays.

Metro and tram services will operate with extended hours around New Year’s Eve to accommodate increased demand.

Several metro stations with parking facilities are available for those who choose to park and ride.

So, Arrive at key locations before road closures begin (typically from mid-afternoon)
