Opens New Era of Bilateral Trade and Investment

Dubai, UAE / Philippines: The United Arab Emirates and the Philippines have strengthened their economic partnership by signing a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) aimed at accelerating bilateral trade, boosting investments and expanding market access between the two countries. Signed in Abu Dhabi on January 13, 2026, the agreement marks a significant milestone in the growing economic relationship and represents the Philippines’ first free trade agreement with a Middle Eastern nation. The CEPA framework will work to reduce tariffs, remove trade barriers and enhance cooperation across key sectors, including trade in goods and services, investment, technology and logistics. Officials from both sides say the agreement is expected to create new opportunities for businesses, strengthen supply chains and support long-term economic growth, while also deepening the already strong diplomatic and people-to-people ties between the UAE and the Philippines.
