MIOU’S SPECTACULAR CONCERT AT UMEWAKA NOH THEATRE BRINGS JAPANESE TRADITION AND POP CULTURE TO LIFE

Tokyo, Japan – Acclaimed performer MIOU delivered an unforgettable cultural celebration at the Umewaka Noh Theatre on 23 August, blending traditional Japanese artistry with contemporary pop culture in a groundbreaking live performance.

Held on one of Japan’s most prestigious traditional Noh stages, the concert brought together music, fashion, and cultural exchange, offering audiences in Tokyo and around the world (via livestream) a rare experience where heritage and innovation met.
Highlights of the event included:

  • MIOU’s live performance, showcasing her dynamic fusion of traditional Japanese sounds with modern Western beats, joined by Mami Koike (koto), classical guitarist Noriyasu Takeuchi, and pianist Sumito Yokoi.
  • Renowned in Japan and internationally, Noh master Manjiro Tatsumi (Hōshō school) made a special appearance. His breathtaking performance with MIOU created a unique fusion of traditional Japanese performing arts and contemporary music.
  • A striking fashion show by TOKKOU FASHION, merging avant-garde streetwear with traditional Japanese aesthetics. Noh master Manjiro Tatsumi also conducted a special lecture for TOKKOU FASHION’s foreign models, introducing them to Japanese cultural traditions and providing hands-on guidance in the art of handling a Noh mask.
  • A special calligraphy exhibition by Hiroko Suehiro, featuring her evocative piece 能舞 – Noh Dance.
  • Premium sake by DASSAI, enjoyed by all guests, with the brand’s president in attendance.
  • Distinguished guests, including ambassadors and international diplomats.
  • Volunteer support from Japanese high school students, who helped welcome and guide attendees.
