Asha Bhosle, legendary singer, breathes her last at 92

Asha Bhosle is not just a name in music but she is a timeless phenomenon, a voice that has defined generations and continues to live on in every note she ever sang.
For me, she will remain more than a legend , she is a memory I hold close to my heart.
In 2009, I had the rare honor of spending nearly an hour with her at Asha’s Restaurant (located at Wafi Mall, Dubai), a moment that today feels like a priceless gift from time itself. What stood out was not just her greatness, but her warmth. In a light-hearted and deeply personal moment, she was trying to read the lines on my palm over a casual conversation, smiling as if we had known each other for years.
But what followed was even more extraordinary.
We both began speaking about the golden era of music, her voice carrying nostalgia as she recalled legends like Kishore Kumar, Mohammed Rafi, Mukesh, Hemant Kumar, and her unforgettable musical journey with R. D. Burman. Each name she mentioned wasn’t just a recollection, it was a doorway into an era where music had soul, depth, and timeless beauty.
We spoke of classical melodies, of songs that still breathe life into memories, and of a time when music was not just created, but it was lived.
That one hour felt like stepping into history.
Today, as I look back, that moment remains my only personal memory of a singer par excellence, a legend whose voice transcends time, whose legacy cannot be confined to years or eras.
Because some voices are never lost.
They don’t fade.
They become eternal.
And Asha Bhosle is one of them. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
“You will be deeply missed, Asha Ji.”
Om Shanti Ashaji..
Great Amit you got a chance to meet her.
