‘Al Amal – The Hope’ App brings calm in uncertain times; offers reassurance, safety tips, and support for peers

Abu Dhabi, UAE- Nakshatra Prem, a Grade 7 student at Abu Dhabi Indian School, has created a thoughtful mobile app, Al Amal -The Hope, to support students coping with anxiety during recent regional tensions affecting the UAE.
This is Nakshatra’s second app development, the first named Star Tech Kidz which she created in an Advanced coding platform.
At its core, Al Amal -The Hope, now available in Google Playstore for free download is about empathy and community. In a time when many young people are experiencing fear for the first time, the app offers something simple yet a powerful sense of calm.

Born and raised in the UAE, Nakshatra always felt a strong sense of safety and security living in the emirates. When the emergency alerts started blaring on her phone and the news of a conflict began to surface, it proved an unsettling experience for her.
“I panicked when I first heard the alerts,” she said. “It was something I had never experienced before, and it made me very worried.”
As she spoke with her classmates, Nakshatra realized that many students were feeling the same fear and uncertainty. This shared experience inspired her to take action.
“I wanted to do something that could help students feel calm and reassured. I also wanted my computer skills to bring a positive change to the community,” she explained.
On March 7, Nakshatra began developing Al Amal The Hope with the aim of giving back to her community. On March 15, she completed the first version of the app. Last week, the app was successfully made available for download on Google Playstore.
The app is designed with a clear purpose to provide emotional reassurance and practical support during stressful situations. There are four key aspects and features to the Al Amal The Hope mobile app.
- Calming tips
- Emergency contact numbers
- Positive messages
- Personal safety notes
Each feature is simple but meaningful, helping students to feel more in control and less overwhelmed during uncertain moments.
“I have already shared the app with fellow students and gathered their feedback. They told me using Al Amal – The Hope helped them feel more secure and less anxious especially during the emergency alerts.”
“I want students to feel that they are safe and to not fear or worry.”
Through the Al Amal – The Hope initiative, Nakshatra shows how understanding a problem and caring enough to act can lead to meaningful solutions that support others when they need it most.
At just 12 years old, she has achieved the rare milestone of independently developing and publishing a fully functional mobile app on the Google Play Store and making it available for free download, an accomplishment uncommon even among many adult aspiring developers.
