Dubai, UAE- (From Various Sources)- Eid Al Fitr in 2026 is falling on Friday, March 20, based on astronomical calculations and the completion of the holy month of Ramadan on Thursday March 19. However, the exact date is not fixed in advance because the Islamic calendar follows the lunar cycle. The festival is officially confirmed only after the sighting of the crescent moon that marks the beginning of the month of Shawwal. Authorities in countries like Saudi Arabia traditionally call for moon sighting on the evening of March 18. If the crescent moon is seen that night, Eid could be observed a day earlier on March 19; if not, Ramadan will complete 30 days, and Eid will be celebrated on March 20.
In most Gulf countries, including the United Arab Emirates, March 20 is currently date for Eid Al Fitr 2026. However, some countries such as India and Pakistan may celebrate it a day later due to differences in moon sighting. Eid Al Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, a month of fasting, prayer, and reflection, and is one of the most important Islamic festivals. It is celebrated with special prayers, charity (Zakat Al Fitr), family gatherings, and festive meals. Final confirmation of the date will come from official religious authorities following the moon sighting announcement.
THE CRESCENT MOON IS NOT SIGHTED AS YET WHILE THIS REPORT IS BEING FILED. HOWEVER PRESIDENTIAL COURT HAS CONFIRMED MARCH 20, 2026 AS THE DAY FOR EID AL FITR (COURTESY- WAM).
EID MUBARAK TO ALL.
