“Mothers are the first school for their children, the place where children learn belonging, responsibility and the values that shape strong nations. To all our mothers… Thank you. You are the foundation of everything good. Happy Mother’s Day,” said the Crown Prince of Dubai

Dubai, UAE- In a progressive and symbolic move, H.H Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, has replaced the term “housewife” with “generations shapers,” marking a significant shift in how society recognizes the role of women/mothers within families and the nation. The change reflects a deeper understanding of the influence women have, not only in managing households but in shaping values, nurturing future leaders, and contributing to the social fabric of the UAE.

This move aligns with the UAE’s broader vision of empowering women across all sectors while acknowledging that their impact at home is equally vital to nation building. By redefining terminology, the leadership reinforces respect for women’s multifaceted roles, especially those who dedicate themselves to raising and guiding future generations. It also sends a strong cultural message that caregiving, education at home, and moral guidance are foundational pillars of a thriving society.

At a time when the world is re-evaluating traditional roles, this initiative stands out as both modern and deeply rooted in Emirati values. It recognizes that behind every achievement, there are often unseen contributions shaping character and ambition from an early age. With this shift, the UAE once again positions itself at the forefront of social progress, where language evolves to reflect dignity, inclusion, and the true essence of national development.
