Dubai, UAE- WOW, The Skills Collective has officially launched in the UAE, turning a long-held vision into a community platform for creativity, craftsmanship and meaningful connection.
The initiative brings together artisan talent, schools and families to make weekends more engaging, purposeful and inspiring.
The 2019 vision: making weekends meaningful
In 2019, Amol Vaidya, Dy COO at Global Schools Foundation, envisioned better weekend experiences for people of all ages.
The concept was not about simply filling free time. It was about creating opportunities to discover skills, meet makers and connect with the community through shared activities.
WOW, The Skills Collective carries that vision forward by bringing people, skills and artisan talent together in a welcoming setting.
Why meaningful weekends matter
Weekends can be a valuable space for learning beyond the classroom and workplace. WOW, The Skills Collective is designed to create that space by encouraging people to explore creativity, appreciate workmanship and build connections through shared experiences.
By bringing activities, artisan talent and people together, the initiative makes weekends more engaging while giving families and communities opportunities to learn, create and connect.
The launch: artisan workmanship in focus
At the UAE launch, artisan vendors and community members came together to celebrate practical skills, creativity and entrepreneurship. The event was declared open by guests including Dr Omar Al Faqir, Kaushik Maheshkumar of GIS International Student Admissions, Reema Mahajan and Shambavi Rajagopal.
The launch reflected the collective effort behind WOW, The Skills Collective and established a foundation for future community-led experiences at Glendale International School.

Mohana P. Kelkar, Business Development & Strategic Partnership at GSG, played an important role in bringing the initiative to life through her work with Glendale International School and Global Schools Group.
Her support helped create a welcoming environment for participants, vendors and visitors while aligning the initiative with the school community’s broader learning values.

TYT Media supports WOW, The Skills Collective by extending its message through school and community networks across the UAE. Participants from schools and institutions across the UAE, included:

A measured beginning with a long-term purpose
WOW, The Skills Collective begins with a simple belief: communities grow stronger when people have opportunities to learn, create and connect. Its UAE launch is a meaningful first step towards building regular experiences that celebrate talent, encourage participation and bring families together.
The planned Friday-and-Saturday continuation at Glendale International School remains subject to official announcements. Dates, timings, venue access and registration details will be added once confirmed by the organizers.
