E.R- As a long-time resident and businessman in the UAE, how do you view the country’s stability and resilience amid the current regional tensions?
Dr. Harmeek Singh–The UAE has consistently demonstrated an extraordinary ability to remain calm, stable, and organized even during periods of regional uncertainty. What stands out is the proactive governance and the clarity with which authorities communicate with residents. For those of us who have lived and built our lives here for many years, this stability is not surprising. The leadership has always prioritized safety, infrastructure, and preparedness. During challenging times, you see the strength of systems that were quietly built over decades.
E.R- There have been many rumours and misinformation circulating internationally about the situation in the UAE. From your experience on the ground, how different is the reality?
Dr. Harmeek Singh– The difference is very clear when you are physically here. Daily life continues normally—businesses are operating, people are going to work, and communities are functioning peacefully. Unfortunately, in today’s digital age, narratives often travel faster than facts. Social media commentary sometimes creates unnecessary anxiety for families abroad. The reality on the ground remains calm, organized, and well-managed.
E.R- You have spent many years building businesses and community networks in the UAE. How confident do you feel about the nation’s systems, governance, and economic stability during such times?
Dr. Harmeek Singh– Extremely confident. The UAE has built one of the most resilient economic ecosystems in the world. Its governance model is proactive rather than reactive. Clear regulations, strong infrastructure, and forward-looking leadership provide confidence to residents and entrepreneurs alike.
E.R- Your organization, Global Sikhs, is known for humanitarian work around the world. How has the organization mobilized to provide relief or support during the current regional strain?
Dr. Harmeek Singh– Global Sikhs operates on a simple philosophy: humanity first. Our teams in the region have mobilized to support communities with information, assistance, and volunteer coordination where needed. Volunteers across the Middle East continue to stand ready to serve people regardless of nationality, faith, or background.
E.R- What message would you like to give to expatriates and the Global Sikh community who may be worried about loved ones living in the UAE?
Dr. Harmeek Singh– My message is simple: remain calm and trust verified information. The UAE has always protected everyone who lives here—citizens and expatriates alike. Families abroad should stay connected with loved ones and rely on official communication rather than speculation.
E.R- What makes the UAE capable of overcoming misconceptions and continuing to project confidence and unity during challenging times?
Dr. Harmeek Singh– The UAE’s strength lies in its leadership and its people. More than 200 nationalities live here under a shared vision of coexistence and progress. During difficult moments, unity becomes visible as communities support one another and institutions function seamlessly.
E.R- What role can individuals play during such times?
Dr. Harmeek Singh– In moments of uncertainty, responsibility belongs to each of us. Individuals can contribute by staying calm, avoiding the spread of misinformation, checking on neighbors and colleagues, and supporting those who may be feeling anxious. Sometimes a simple phone call or a kind word can make a meaningful difference.
