Dubai, UAE– Visitors to Dubai Mall are getting a closer look at the growing risks of cybercrime through an interactive awareness platform launched by Dubai Police as part of Cybersecurity Awareness Month, observed every October.
The platform, set up by the e-Crimes and Cybersecurity Department at the General Department of Criminal Investigation, is giving Dubai Mall visitors an opportunity to learn about different forms of cybercrime, common fraud tactics and practical ways to stay safe in the digital world.
The awareness platform will remain open to visitors until 10 October, offering an interactive experience designed to make cybersecurity awareness easier and more engaging for people of different age groups.
“The platform at Dubai Mall also familiarises visitors with the eCrime Hub (https://ecrimehub.gov.ae ), which spreads awareness of cybercrimes.“
The initiative is part of an electronic crime awareness campaign launched by the UAE Ministry of Interior in cooperation with the Dubai Police General Command and the Dubai Electronic Security Center under the slogan “UAE is Safe With Your Digital Awareness.”
The campaign focuses on helping members of the public recognise emerging cyber threats, understand how online scams operate and adopt safer digital practices.
At Dubai Mall, visitors can explore different examples of electronic crimes and learn about the techniques used by scammers to obtain money or misuse personal information. The platform combines awareness activities with educational games and artificial intelligence-based experiences to create a more interactive learning journey.
One of the key areas highlighted at the platform is the growing concern around deepfakes, along with ways to protect children from online threats and safeguard personal and sensitive data.
Dubai Police is also using the platform to introduce visitors to eCrime, the official electronic crime reporting platform, where members of the public can submit reports related to internet-based crimes.
These include electronic extortion, hacking, financial fraud and the unlawful use of credit cards.
The reporting process is designed to be straightforward. Complainants can access the platform, select the category that matches the electronic crime, verify their contact number through an SMS and then provide details of the complaint.
Visitors are also being introduced to the eCrime Hub, a bilingual awareness platform dedicated to helping the public understand cybercrime prevention and fraud detection.
The platform provides information for different sections of society, including children and parents, individuals, business owners, employees and people who regularly use social media and the internet.
By bringing the awareness initiative directly to one of Dubai’s busiest visitor destinations, Dubai Police is using the Dubai Mall platform to turn cybersecurity awareness into a practical and interactive public experience, while reminding visitors that responsible digital behaviour remains an important part of staying safe online.
