Dubai, UAE– Seven UAE-based partner drivers undertook Umrah in September 2026 with funding from Yango Ride, part of the international tech company Yango Group. Through its Driver’s Dream Project, the ride-hailing service also covered a full academic year of tuition fees for two partner drivers’ children and provided school supplies and gifts to their families.
Partner drivers can submit their dreams through the “My Dreams” feature in the driver application. Passengers can also leave tips through the app to help drivers work towards fulfilling their dreams. The submissions help Yango Ride identify aspirations it can help fulfil, from a pilgrimage to support for a child’s education.
Islam Abdul Karim, Regional Head of Yango Group Middle East, said: “Partner drivers help keep the UAE moving while working towards personal goals and providing for their families. Our community initiatives reflect a responsibility to support their wellbeing and recognise the families behind their work. We want drivers to feel valued as people whose lives and aspirations extend beyond the time they spend on the road. Listening to their needs helps us focus our support on priorities that are meaningful to them and their families.”
For the seven participating drivers, the funding supported a pilgrimage they had personally wished to make. One participating partner driver had dreamed of visiting Mecca and Medina after seeing photographs and videos sent by relatives working in Saudi Arabia. Following his first Umrah, he hopes to return with his mother.
Nizam Ullah, a Yango Ride partner driver who took part in the journey, said: “This trip is my dream. Now it’s become a reality. So finally, this dream is complete. So, I thank Yango and my company and the people who arranged this trip for us.”
For the families receiving education support, the project covered tuition fees for a full academic year, alongside school supplies and gifts.
Earlier in 2026, Yango Ride introduced “Voices From Home”, sharing recorded messages from loved ones with participating partner drivers during their working day. The team privately contacted family members to record the messages, creating moments of connection across distance.
