Dubai, UAE- The Consul General of India, Dr. E. Vishnu Vardhan Reddy (in the picture below), has issued a significant advisory to the large Indian community living in the UAE, urging them to beware of fraudulent practices by unauthorized agents or individuals claiming to assist with obtaining Emergency Certificates, exit permits, Emirates IDs or visa regularization.
The advisory comes at a time when there has been a growing concern over Indian nationals, particularly blue-collar workers, being scammed by individuals and agents who falsely claim to provide assistance with various official processes and procedures.
In several such fraudulent cases, victims are reportedly asked to provide facial scans and fingerprints as part of the purported procedures. These biometric details can then be misused to carry out financial transactions, open bank accounts, or obtain loans and credit cards in the names of the victims without their knowledge or consent.
As a result, victims may find themselves liable for financial obligations and transactions they never authorised or carried out. In some cases, they may also face multiple fines, travel bans and, in extreme circumstances, even legal proceedings or imprisonment.
The Indian Consulate has therefore urged members of the community to exercise extreme caution and avoid dealing with unauthorised agents or individuals offering such services.
