HERITAGE CRAFT: Celebrating Emirati Art at ADIHEX 2026

Abu Dhabi, UAE- Abu Dhabi Awards Meylas today hosted a special workshop, held in partnership with Al Ghadeer Emirati Crafts, one of the leading initiatives of the Emirates Red Crescent, during the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX) 2026, taking place at ADNEC Abu Dhabi.

In a session titled Crafting Goodness: Heritage in Our Hands, a number of participants were engaged to learn about traditional Emirati crafts, as well as the skills and know-how involved in creating them. Attendees also took part in a hands-on workshop to create products, inspired by Emirati heritage, local culture and the environment with a contemporary touch.

The session was held in cooperation with the Al Ghadeer Emirati Crafts Project, which was launched in 2006 under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Shamsa bint Hamdan Al Nahyan, President’s Assistant for Women’s Affairs at Emirates Red Crescent. The initiative helps support Emirati artisans both socially and economically, preserves traditional crafts, and enhances the local and global profile of artisanal Emirati products.

The Abu Dhabi Awards is a government initiative held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates. Established in 2005, the Award honours inspiring individuals who have selflessly dedicated themselves to supporting others, while contributing to the betterment of the UAE community. 

Open to people from all around the UAE, the Award invites members of the community to nominate those inspiring individuals regardless of their age, nationality, or occupation. This includes UAE citizens, residents, or non-residents whose good deeds have positively impacted the UAE. One nomination is all it takes for an individual to be considered for an Abu Dhabi Award. 

For the past 20 years, the Award has celebrated the values of giving and goodness within the UAE community, honouring to date 100 individuals from 18 different nationalities.
