Dubai, UAE- The UAE turned yellow again this morning, as thousands of school buses rolled onto the roads, carrying children back to classrooms.
Across cities and neighborhoods, the familiar sight of yellow school buses is returned to the roads as children head back to classrooms today, marking the beginning of the 2026–27 academic year for most schools across the country.

More than 1.277 million students are back to their schools across the UAE, bringing back the energy, excitement and unmistakable rhythm of school mornings.
After weeks of summer holidays, homes have once again been filled with the sounds of early morning alarms, packed schoolbags, freshly prepared uniforms and excited conversations about meeting friends and teachers. For many children, the first day brings the simple happiness of seeing classmates again, stepping into familiar classrooms and beginning another year of learning and discovery.
And then there are the yellow buses once again on the roads.
As the morning progresses, the UAE’s roads are once again dotted with school buses carrying children to schools across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and other emirates. Their bright yellow colour adds a distinctive visual character to the morning commute, making it feel as though the cities themselves have changed colour with the return of the school season.
The return of schools also means the return of the familiar morning routine for families. Parents are back to preparing children for school, buses are arriving at designated stops, and roads around schools are becoming busier as communities settle into the academic-year rhythm.
The UAE’s authorities have also placed strong emphasis on road safety as schools reopen. August 31 coincides with the UAE Accident-Free Day initiative, encouraging motorists to exercise patience, follow traffic rules and take particular care around school zones, pedestrians and school buses.

For children, however, the first day is about much more than traffic and timetables. It is about new beginnings.
Fresh notebooks will be opened, new lessons will begin, friendships will grow and countless memories will be created. The return of children to their school desks is, in many ways, the return of a familiar heartbeat to communities across the UAE.
Today, the yellow buses are back, classrooms are alive again and the UAE has officially entered another school year full of promise, possibility and young dreams.
EmiratesReporter.com wishes all students a very happy, inspiring and successful academic year ahead. May this new journey bring you exciting opportunities, new friendships, valuable learning and the confidence to dream big and achieve your goals.
Study well, stay positive and make every moment count!
Long Live the UAE.
