SHARJAH, UAE- Young visitors crafted their own seed bombs at the 45th Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF 2026), where a hands-on workshop introduced them to environmental stewardship through crafting.
During the ‘Seed Bomb Workshop’, children learnt to make seed bombs by combining seeds with damp paper and rolling the mixture into compact balls that can be used to grow plants.
The session introduced participants to the gardening technique and how the surrounding material can help protect seeds until conditions are suitable for germination. The children shaped the materials into seed bombs, exploring their different textures through a hands-on sensory experience.
“From carefully handling the materials to completing their seed bombs, these pupils practice concentration, patience, and cooperation while developing a sense of responsibility towards their surroundings,” said Nandar, the session’s moderator.

Nandar added that the workshop allowed young participants to interact with their peers and share their excitement as they worked on their creations.
As the session drew to a close, the tables were filled with the children’s newly crafted seed bombs, giving participants something they had made themselves while introducing them to a simple way of supporting plant growth.
