SAFETY FIRST: LEPAS L8 Brings Smart Protection to UAE Roads

LEPAS L8 - 2026

As LEPAS makes its UAE debut this September with Al Ghurair Mobility, its safety engineering is a good place to start getting to know it.

Dubai, UAE- While LEPAS is a new name for UAE drivers, the brand has already begun establishing its presence across international markets, including South Africa and Southeast Asia, with further expansion underway. The brand makes its UAE debut this September, with Al Ghurair Mobility introducing LEPAS to the country through its first showroom, with the L8 Super Hybrid leading the range. Behind it sits the engineering weight of the Chery Auto Group, and safety is where that shows up immediately.

The L8 approaches the subject in a clear order of priority. Most of the work happens long before anything goes wrong, with the car analysing the road and the surrounding traffic and ‘taking the wheel’ early. If a situation does develop, the structure takes over. And, with all of it held together, the hybrid system is sealed to handle years of Gulf driving without drama.

That first layer is a Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) suite covering more than 20 driver-assistance functions. Autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, blind spot detection and adaptive cruise control are all part of it, and on everyday commutes they change the character of the drive. Adaptive cruise and lane keep help maintain your line and your gap through stop-start traffic. The rest work seamlessly in the background, and you are meant to forget they are even there.

Front and rear cross-traffic collision braking watches for vehicles crossing your path when your view is blocked, which describes almost every reverse out of a mall parking bay. The door-opening warning detects a scooter, cyclist, or car coming from behind and lets your passengers know in an instant. On the L8 Luxury PHEV, Automated Parking Assist and Remote Parking Assist take the manoeuvre off your hands altogether.

Good engineering still plans for the inevitable, and this is where the conversation shifts to the build. The L8 is built from high-strength steel around a reinforced cage, with deformable sections at the front and rear designed to absorb impact energy. The stiff cabin structure is designed to resist it. The result is that crash forces are routed around where people sit, rather than through these crucial zones, giving the airbags and seatbelts something solid to work against. It is the part of the car you will never see and never think about, which is exactly how it should be.

The same protection extends to the hybrid system. The battery pack is rated to IP68 and IPX9K, two standards that together provide complete protection against dust and sustained immersion in water, as well as close-range water jets at high pressure and high temperature. That means fine sand working its way into every seam, the pressure washer at the car wash, and the standing

water that gathers in underpasses after a heavy rain; none of them will ever be a cause for concern. Sealing at this level is what keeps the car’s hybrid system reliable over the long term.

Together, the three layers do different jobs at different moments, and they are specified to a consistent standard across the car, rather than being offered as headline features. That thoughtfulness is the real measure of a safety package.

The L8 Super Hybrid reaches Al Ghurair Mobility showrooms this September, with pricing and full specification to follow closer to the on-sale date. Its appeal goes beyond its striking design, with the technology, efficiency and comfort engineered to make every journey feel more effortless.
